Can you do your own visa application?
You might have heard some people say "it is so easy, no need to waste money on migration agents or lawyers." To those people I say, "you got lucky and you could be forgiven for being ignorant," because it is not as simple as filling some forms, attaching documents, paying the fee and be done.
In my years of experience, I have seen highly intelligent and educated professionals failing in their applications because they are not legally trained and are not aware of some critical factors in the process.
If you do just ONE step wrongly, you will most likely end up with a visa refusal, losing thousands of dollars in application fees, having a visa refusal on your immigration record which makes it much harder to apply again, paying a lot more to appeal the visa outcome, and worst of all, lose your chances of getting permanent residency.
The Australian immigration law is very complex and changes significantly every year especially with the recent Covid event that has drastically impacted the system.
Did you know? There are about 100 visa subclasses, some with internal streams which all seem rather similar and confusing. Next, the immigration laws are governed by over 3,000 pages of statutes (the act), about 16,000 pages of regulations, policies, ministerial directions, legislative instruments, in addition to countless pages of court and tribunal case law.
Every person's case is different and you would not know if there was a complexity in your own matter. Even if you did, would you know where to find the answer and the right procedure in this maze of information? Are you going to gamble your chance at Australian residency?
